KEPSA has partnered with Twiva (a social commerce platform that gives micro, small, and medium enterprises digital access to markets through content creators) to support SMEs in adopting the use of technology through intensive capacity building and technical assistance on the use of digital skills and platforms, hoping to scale up these businesses and eventually create jobs for Kenyans.
The Program dubbed "Twende Digital Program" has a strategic partnership of the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) that supports youth employment initiatives in Africa. To join the Program, the SME should be based in Kenya, considering scale, willing to create jobs for young people, and seeking to receive mentorship and capacity building in digitization, especially in the use of e-commerce.
Following the Program, the SME is expected to create two jobs (full-time or part-time) and improve the working conditions of at least three current employees (e.g. through the provision of social welfare and statutory deductions).
The first cohort of 200 SMEs will be coached for 6 months and stand to benefit from the following which are free of charge:
1. Influencer Marketing service credits
2. Content creation credits
3. Access to business coaches
4. Access to influencers/resellers to help resell the SME's goods
5. Linkage to logistics and fulfillment partners
6. Digital marketing training
7. Digital marketing advisory services
These benefits aim to empower SMEs with the tools and resources needed to thrive in today's competitive market.
